The Promise
Swap Dat Face is built on a simple promise:
Your uploads are processed privately and deleted automatically.
- Free photo swaps are deleted after 30 minutes.
- Paid GIFs & Videos default to 30 minute deletion.
- Extended retention (up to 30 days) is optional and account-controlled.
- You can manually delete anytime.
We do not build datasets from your uploads.
We do not train models on your images.
When deletion runs, the file is gone.
Trust & Transparency
We aim to earn trust rather than claim perfection. Like all online services, this system ultimately requires trust in the operator.
It is not technically possible to "mathematically prove" that a server never stores data without specialised infrastructure that would make this service unusable.
Instead of impossible proofs, we focus on short-lived retention and radical transparency.

For the purposes of UK GDPR, we act as the data controller for the limited personal data processed through this site.
What data we process
You do not need an account for free photo swaps.
An account is required for purchasing credits and using GIF or Video features.
About the browser identifier (Free Users):
- No PII stored — we don't know who you are
- No biometric data — we don't store face embeddings or scans
- No persistent identifiers — just a browser-generated hash
- Short-lived by design — expires after 24 hours of inactivity
- Automatically forgotten — Redis deletes inactive users without action
If you stop using the site, your identifier is erased automatically. There is nothing to delete because the system forgets you on its own.
Lawful Basis
Performance of a contract: Processing uploaded images is necessary to provide the face swap service.
Legitimate interests: Processing anonymous usage data and identifiers is necessary to operate safely, prevent abuse, and enforce limits.
We do not rely on consent for core functionality.
Retention Transparency
- Default retention: 30 minutes
- Extended retention (optional): up to 30 days
- Manual deletion: available at any time from your account dashboard

Image Handling

Free photo swaps always use 30 minute deletion.
We DO NOT:
- Train AI models on your images
- Store face embeddings long term
- Categorise people in images
- Reuse images for anything else
Analytics
Swap Dat Face uses privacy-focused analytics to understand how the service is used and to improve reliability and performance.
Analytics data is collected on a strictly limited, aggregate basis and may include:
- Page views and feature usage
- Success and failure rates
- Device type, such as mobile or desktop
No signup required for free photo swaps.
Accounts are required for credits, GIFs, and Videos.
Analytics data:
- Does not include uploaded images
- Does not include filenames or image URLs
- Does not include personal identifiers
- Is not used for advertising or cross-site tracking
We currently use Google Analytics in a privacy-focused configuration and rely on legitimate interests as the lawful basis for this processing.
Because analytics is configured to avoid identifying individuals and is used solely to operate and improve the service, we do not present a separate analytics consent banner. You can still opt out through your browser or device settings if you wish.
Cookies
Swap Dat Face uses a small number of strictly necessary cookies and similar technologies to make the service work and to protect it from abuse.
These are used only for core functionality such as:
- Ensuring site security and reliability
- Preventing automated or abusive use
- Supporting usage limits and credits
- Free users use short lived browser identifiers for abuse prevention.
- Account users use secure sessions.
We do not use advertising cookies or cookies for cross-site tracking.
Because these cookies are strictly necessary for the service to operate, we do not present a separate cookie consent banner. You can still control or block cookies through your browser settings, although doing so may prevent the service from functioning correctly.
Your Rights
Under UK GDPR you can request access, correction, or deletion.
However, because images are automatically deleted within 30 minutes (usually faster), there is typically nothing left for us to retrieve or delete.

This tool is meant to be fun, not creepy.
- We process your image, do the swap, then delete it.
- We publish a live retention log showing when cleanup runs.
- We use basic analytics to keep the service working, not to track people.
